Webgrab+Plus used with Kodi

If this is not allowed please feel to remove it. I could not find a better section besides "Usage" to post it in, so if it is allowed but in the wrong area feel free to just move it.

I use Webgrab in conjuction with Kodi. If any of you use kodi you can see there is a number of PVR Clients that accept XMLTV for EPG. Now they see it differently depending on skin and kodi version. But for Kodi 16.1 the PVR simple client gives out options to see "Genres" and "Episode". I for the life of me can not figure out how to get it to display properly there. TV.com presents "other/unknown" while directtv and other sources simply put "movie" for movie and "tv show" for a tv show in the genre. I have tried using the MDB processer and it simply "adds" the genre to the descritpion and not fill in the blanks in how Kodi reads it. So i was hoping that somebody that uses Webgrab in conjuction with Kodi can tell me how i can get Webgrab to populate the genres and episode info so that Kodi can read it properly. I have attached a screen shot so you can see what i mean

I have used a couple of sources. But i do have the latest revision of Dirtect tv, it simply adds "Movie" or "TV Show" if its a movie or tv show. I was hoping the MDB processer could simply insert the genre when it compared it to imdb or tvdb. But when it does it simply adds it in the description. So it reads like "episode info:blah blah genre: action, drama" instead of adding it to the actual genre information.

Actually i know why people flock to TV.com. Because zap2it and directtv are in networks and not "USA" see when i first got Webgrab i saw all the countries, saw TV.com was the only one in USA (i am in america)  that offered more than like 10 channels. And started using it. And it took me HOURS to map all the channels i need, like 200 channels. So when i finally discovered that directtv and zap2it existed as possible sources the idea of remapping 200 channels made me cringe lol.

But TV.com has timeout problems with a lot of channels and like you mentioned no genre or episode information. I will try to use Zap2it for a couple of channels and see if i get better results than TV.com. Thank you a lot for your feedback

it shows the "<episode-num system="onscreen">S5 E4</episode-num>" in the .xml file but Kodi does not display it.

 i found out why it doesnt display the episode information after alot of reading on the kodi forums.

iptv simple client doesnt import it when it loads the guide.xml

it gets title,description and genre.i had a look at the source code on git and look to be correct.

GetNodeValue(pChannelNode, "title", entry.strTitle);

GetNodeValue(pChannelNode, "desc", entry.strPlot);

GetNodeValue(pChannelNode, "category", entry.strGenreString);

i dont see any other elements.(beside the start and stop time).

Well that explains it. Because i did the alterations and i found it did nothing. So Simple Client simply not loading it would make a lot of sense.

yeah, more searching i figured out how to add it,this involves compiling th addon which i can do for linux but not windows.

well maybe someone smarter than me can compile it for windows but i never compiled anything ever for windows on linux.

it a vey easy edit,just 3 lines to add in 2 files.

http://tinypic.com/r/33v0qdi/9

i couldnt compile it on Jarvis(kept getting errors) so i tried Ktypton and it compiled fine.

titan skin is beta for it so i think thats why you see other/unknown/ect for the category

Update:

i tried a few different skins for Krypton and the "other/unknown" isnt there just the category from the guide.xml

so its is a bug that hasnt been fixed yet in the beta titan skin.

I have been trying to complie a custom pvr simple client for windows for ages with no success. i simply can't get cmake to work right. But if you wouldn't mind sharing your compiled version of your edited pvr client that would be neat. And maybe i can drop a line on the Titan forum letting them know about hte "other/Unknown" bug that the beta skin has.

here is is but it wont work on windows.

linux uses .so files not .dll like windows.

also regarding the patch i used i got it from the titan git(one of the branches) so i think the author knows about it.

I have a secondary Libreelec box. And was thinking of making my primary Libreelec as well. Except i have a baytrail processer and it doesn't fully work with LIbreelec yet. But i can at least use the patched PVR client you provided on my secondary device. Thank you
