Grabber works on Windows 10 but reports "encrypted" on Ubuntu??

I originally installed WebGrab+Plus on Windows 10 to check it out. I configured it to use channels from the tvguide.co.uk sample, and it successfully populated guide data for the dozen or so channels that I selected.

I then installed WebGrab+Plus on my Ubuntu 20.04 VM, and copied across the config file from my Windows install. When I ran it on Ubuntu it failed to populate data, reporting "skipped --> encrypted SiteIni" for each channel. The log is below.

Any idea why this will work on Windows but not Ubuntu?

thats very outdated.
newest versions use dotnet instead of mono.

the latest stable versions are available here.
http://webgrabplus.com/download

for dotnet installation(you need dotnet 8) google it.
you should find the link to the microsoft site to download it.
or
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0
all you need is the .NET Runtime 8.0.11
that last one on the right side column.

wengrab is a console app so desktop, sdk, asp stuff is not needed.

OK I now have v5.3 installed, but I don't seem to be able to get dotnet 8 installed. I downloaded it (dotnet-runtime-8.0.11-linux-x64.tar.gz), and followed the manual install instructions from the MS site, but my current version still shows as v9.0.100 - and WG++ does not seem to be compatible with it.
I've attached the log.
Any ideas??

you need to extract the tar.gz file
you have dotnet 7 and 9 installed, hoe did you install them?
snaps maybe?
if so follow the instructions for package manager installation and add dotnet 8
u can have multiple dotnet versions installed.
or as ur log says..
To install missing framework, download:
https://aka.ms/dotnet-core-applaunch?framework=Microsoft.NETCore.App&fra...

Ah Ok....I think I ran the dotnet commands from the wrong directory...I switched to the ~/Downloads folder and re-ran the dotnet installation instructions. My dotnet version still shows as v9, but wg++ does seem to extract guide data now

dotnet --version will always show latest installed
if a app needs 8 it will look for it and use it or error thats its missing.

15 siteini
if you decide u wish to donate use the button on top forums.
if u have a special need(like more channels or more ini) contact jan via the contact tab.
