tvguide.co.uk not grabbing?

For the past couple of weeks data for channels from tvguide.co.uk has been failing to download. I have been running the Windows beta v2.1.5 on Windows 7 and Windows 10 systems, and updated to beta v2.1.9 today, but am still not getting any data. The error reads:

[Warning ] error downloading page: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.
[Warning ] pausing 1 of 4 times for 5 seconds before re-try.

All 4 tries fail and WG moves on to the next channel. The site is still up an running well in a browser. Am attaching a log for a grab of 4 test channels. I've switched to radiotimes for now, but tvguide.co.uk was the only guide I've been able to get program data for the France 24 English news channel.

As was the case about this same time last year, I see now that channel data for links in m.tvguide.co.uk is downloading for me fine. But I'll have to figure out why they're only working on my Windows 10 system with v2.1.5, and not on my main Windows 7 PC with a fresh installation of v2.1.9. Still have to wonder what's up with tvguide.co.uk

Enable TLS 1.x on Windows 7 and it will work.

Okay.. I modified Windows 7 registry to enable that using instructions here: https://manage.accuwebhosting.com/knowledgebase/3008/How-do-I-enable-TLS... That seems to have done the trick. Thanks Goran

Every channel I tested came back with program data except for the France 24 news channel, even from m.tvguide.co.uk now.

Generate channel list again….
Try this:

site_id="1183" xmltv_id="France 24 HD">France 24 HD

That formatting didn't look right for copying into my WG config and generating a full list of channels by enabling CHANNEL FILE CREATION in the m.tvguide.co.uk.full.ini. And it did fail.

But I replaced the current value of site_id="834" for France24 in my WG config taken from the current m.tvguide.co.uk.index.channels.xml with site_id="1183", and got program data for the channel to load.

Thanks for that little bit of magic janKO. I'm curious about where you came upon that value.

i fail to see your logic.
france 24 eng no longer exists in the channel list so thats why you got the error.

the only one now is the one janko mentioned.

Hi Blackbear. Checking again, I just downloaded the latest site.ini pack and looked in both m.tvguide.co.uk-full.channels.xml and m.tvguide.co.uk-index.channels.xml again. France 24 is clearly listed in those as:

< channel update="i" site="m.tvguide.co.uk-full" site_id="834" xmltv_id="FRANCE 24 English">FRANCE 24 English< /channel >
And:
< channel update="i" site="m.tvguide.co.uk-index" site_id="834" xmltv_id="FRANCE 24 English">FRANCE 24 English< /channel>

And I get no data from either unless I replace 834 with 1183. I see no "France 24 HD" listed anywhere in those. What am I missing?

Pasting that channel data above and previewing, I see where the forum's post composition interface strips out XML elements. May explain a bit why I was confused with the channel link janKO posted.

regenerate channel list. What you are looking is old channel list and some channels no more like FRANCE 24 English
in new channel list is France 24 HD with id 1183
to generate channel list for v2.1.9 in WebGrab++.config change "f" to "c"
<update>c</update>
and run WG+
v2.1.5
remove * in ini file after
** ##### CHANNEL FILE CREATION (only to create the xxx-channel.xml file)
**
** @auto_xml_channel_start
and run WG+

It seems I'd need to enable those ini lines to generate a new channels list file no matter what version of WG I'm running, no? v2.1.5 / v2.1.9

What I don't know is what to place in my config file in place of my default channels in order to generate a channels list file.

I've not delved into the more technical side of the config header in quite a while. I've always had <update>i< /update> set there. "c" isn't even listed as a command in the very old header set up a few years ago. I'll attach a copy of my config if someone can point out any changes I may need to make in there for v2.1.9.

I've figured out posting xml code, but I had to rename my config xml to txt before uploading so it can be read here.

v2.1.9 use attached config and run wg+

I got this error when I ran that on my Windows 7 system with v2.1.9:

-----------
[Error ] WG.Common.InvalidConfigException: [Error ] Doesn't exist
at WGconsole.g..ctor(String 0)
-----------

I enabled the lines for CHANNEL FILE CREATION in m.tvguide.co.uk-index.ini and tested, Then re-enabled those and did the same for m.tvguide.co.uk-full.ini. I'm not sure which I should be using, but am guessing the former.

I don't know if the 2 lines of text needed to be enabled, but I tested both with and without enabling them:

* enable the following three lines to create a channel list file for only the selected files
* channels from the desktop version

----
@auto_xml_channel_start
* enable the following three lines to create a channel list file for only the selected files
* channels from the desktop version
url_index{url|http://my.tvguide.co.uk/channellisting.asp?ch=74}
index_site_channel.scrub {multi|||}
index_site_id.scrub {multi||}
@auto_xml_channel_end

Well from the "Revision 02" your log, it looks like your enabling CHANNEL FILE CREATION lines in m.tvguide.co.uk-full.ini and not the m.tvguide.co.uk-index.ini file that shows "Revision 3" in its ini.

It also looks like your WebGrab++.config.xml file is not in the root \AppData\Local\WebGrab+Plus folder. And you have no path defined to create your guide.xml file.

I edited the path to guide.xml in your config to place it in the default WG folder. And experimented with placing it in the same folder in the \WebGrab+Plus\siteini.pack\UK sub-folder with m.tvguide.co.uk-full.ini and ran the grab. But got the same error. Not quite sure at this point what's different on this system that's throwing the error.

I copied some channel links from your m.tvguide.co_.uk_.channels.xml into my config file and ran WG Goran. It gave the error that your m.tvguide.co.uk.ini wasn't found on my system:

----------------
[Critical] Unhandled Exception
[Critical]
Unable to find the siteini: m.tvguide.co.uk.ini.
Looked in:
C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\WebGrab+Plus
C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\WebGrab+Plus\siteini.user (+ subfolders max.depth = 6)
C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\WebGrab+Plus\siteini.pack (+ subfolders max.depth = 6)
[Critical]
at WGconsole.F.1(String[] 0)
at WGconsole.F.0(String[] 0)
----------------

I just updated the siteini.pack and checked it again today. But all I have are m.tvguide.co.uk-full.ini and m.tvguide.co.uk-index.ini.

Where did you come by m.tvguide.co.uk.ini? And where did you find this France 24 channel link you put in your config file:

<channel update="i" site="m.tvguide.co.uk" site_id="1183" xmltv_id="France 24 HD">France 24 HD</channel>

As message says is unable to find site.ini, so make sure names are correct. You must have a site ini named m.tvguide.co.uk.ini
this is what wg++ is looking for.

Hi Mat... That m.tvguide.co.uk.ini was configured in the WebGrab++.config.xml Goran posted above for me to try getting a channel list. I updated to the latest siteini.pack the other day, and just checked again, and that file is not present. Not in \siteini.pack\UK where I'd think it'd reside. And a search of all \siteini.pack and subfolders fails to find it. Is it present in your installation?

Maybe you should rename from site="m.tvguide.co.uk" to site="m.tvguide.co.uk-index" or site="m.tvguide.co.uk-full" or rename ini to m.tvguide.co.uk? Does that make sense???
Your first post

no "-full" or "-index"

I must not have noticed that the channel links in all my old backed up files are configured as m.tvguide.co.uk-index, not as m.tvguide.co.uk as I wrote up there.

But I tested your suggestion and added -index to a couple channel links in your channel xml, and the data downloaded fine.

I did try renaming m.tvguide.co.uk-index.ini to just m.tvguide.co.uk.ini, and enabled the lines in it to generate a channel list. But WG wasn't pleased :) I'll have to get back to this later in the day at this point, and see if I can figure out that out. I'm still wondering where I might have found that channel link you supplied to put in my config file for that.

Thanks for helping me out with this Goran.
