no result for series

I am unable to get discriptions for series. Movies work fine.

I am using Webgrab+plus 2.15 and the latest ini files from the mdb downloads. I have read several posts on similar problems but cannot seem to identify what is going wrong.

I have tried each of the following with the same result:

imdb.com.bing_series.ini

imdb.com.imdb_series.ini

tvdb.com.bing.ini.ini

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thank you

(The log file is cut off as it takes several hours to complete and I aborted after a few minutes of failure)

imdb removed their epdate page which the ini used to get the episode name and season episode number.

this is why u get no matches for series shows.

i made a ini for tvmaze, its not as good as imdb but it may help depending on the info your looking to get.

this ini is for series show only,it will not work for movies.

i found using the default setting for series select/match worked good for me.

<selectserie>defaults</selectserie>

<matchserie>defaults</matchserie>

Hmm...yes I noticed this during the past week. Havent looked over if there might be a quick fix for the imdb bing series ini. I suspect the whole ini has to be rewritten and therefor requires Jans expertise.

its not really the ini,its webgrab itself that will need the fixing.

the problem is the way mdb is setup its can only have a single episode page.

so it would need to be changed to allow some sort of multi page grabbinng to get all the episodes via the season or year pages.

as it is right now its impossible to do.

Aha, that is unfortunate! It is going to be plenty of manual tinkering with the EPG then til this is fixed.

i did some searching on imdb and found this.

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/epdate-epvote-eprate

so this may be only a temporary problem.

A nice findsmiley However it would be surprising such a big change doesnt break anything at all. We will see. Merry Christmas and Happy New Yearlaugh

all we can do is wait and hope they add it again.

i have a testing version of new webgrab.exe form jan and i can say as of now nothing has been added to grab multiple pages via the season or year.

he's hoping for the same as you are(they add back the epdate page) as this would require tons of code to add.

I wish I knew more about this stuff to help, but wonder if the episode listings on the season pages provide enough information to scrub?

Example:

Two and a Half Men (Season 6)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369179/episodes?season=6

that is not the problem.

its the way that mdb works, when it was written it was assumed that all episodes are listed on a single page(which they have removed).

so yes we can do what your saying, read the page for season 6(or any other season).

what we cannot do is read all the pages from season 1 to season 6,ect.

also to read a specific season page we need the season number from the original program information(guide.xml),we cannot do this because of the way mdb was written(webgrab.exe itself).also what do you do when there is no episode number info and just a subtitle(episode name)?

here's a rough explaination of how mdb used to work.

say we want to get mdb info for "The King of Queens" episode name "Pilot" episode number "S1 E1"

mdb needs atleast 2 pieces of the info above..

title and subtitle(episode name)

or

title and episode number info

it first searches for the title,it it find a match it gets the mdb show id's(the ttxxxxxxx number in your link example above)

what happens next is where its currently broken.

the mdb ini will get all the episode names and all the episode season/episode numbers for the show id's it found above.

^^^since this is no longer on a single page we cannot get all of this information.

then it will check for a match depending on which 2 pieces of information is supplied from the original show that i mentioned above.

if no match, the show is skipped(msg to log no match found)

if there a match information is scrubbed from the episode information pages.

Imdb executives are getting lots of complaints for having removed the collected episode page and the discussions are heating up. I would be surpised if they stick with this nonsence decision in the end.

Looks like they updated the IMDB site to list all the series shows on a page. I wonder if this will be enough to make the IMDB series work?

http://www.imdb.com/search/title/?series=tt0369179&count=2500&sort=release_date,desc&view=advanced&ref_=tt_eps_rhs_sm

I was posting something similar, but you did beat me to it.

Unfortunately these executive morons have ruined the imdb. They also refuse to listen to the massive critics.
