tvguide.com.ini Shows all programs as "New"

I was using zap2it guide data forever for nextpvr until it went down.

Since then I have been trying to find a solution that works for me.

I am able to get all the guide data, but I guess the way Nextpvr reads the guide data it sees all the programs as "New".

If I look in the guide.xml I create, I see where some are tagged as New and some are not, but every single program shows up as "New" in the Nextpvr guide.

This is an issue when I want to record only new first run episodes of a show.  It records all of them including the reruns.

Is there a change I can do to the ini that allows Nextpvr to understand what is actually new vs what is a rerun?

Looking at the newer guide.xml, I see that the way the data is formatted is very different than the zap2it format.

The new one (guide.xml) shows the (New) tag on the desc line.

The old zap2it (tvguide_old.xml) one added a whole new <new /> line at the end to signify it was "New".

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thank you

the zap2it guide.xml isnt from webgrab as webgrab cannot add the <new/> tag.

the (n) your seeing in the tvguide.xml is added by webgrab because of your webgrab config mode setting.

see here

WebGrab++.config.xml | WebGrab+Plus

so add n or nomark as a mode setting to disable this feature.

delete your guide.xml or do a force update <update>f</update> to overwrite old epg data.

after your happy with the results u can change it back to <update>i</update>

u may want to also read here,zap2it epg should be still available with a simple fix.

Thank you,

Yeah, I know the zap2it wasn't from webgrab.  I was just using that for comparison purposes as what was working with NextPVR previously.

And I did try the gracenote fix for Zap2it, but that site went down often. If I go to that site right now it says "Oops Something went wrong"

That's why I started looking for a better solution and what led me to Webgrab.

I added the n (also tried "nomark") to the mode on the Webgrabconfig.xml, deleted the guide.xml and tried the force update.

Everything is still showing up as New on NextPVR.

To be clear, it doesn't appear to be showing up as new in the guide.xml. Only the new stuff has a (New) tag and only live has the (Live) tag in the desc. I am not getting a (n) tag on any of them. However NextPVR imports it all as "New"

I appreciate your help, but I am still in the same position.

i assume nextpvr uses the <previousshown /> tag the tell new from repeats.

tvguide has this tag but as a registered user u wont get it in the data.

you have to be a donator to get this info along with the rest of show details like subtitle, episode number info, credits, ect.

its 6 euro/yr for 250 channels which is more than u need if your just grabbing your local ota channels.

I am still using zap2xml with the gracenote fixes and it works quite well.

Webgrab also now has a gracenote.ini file in the international folder. That pulls the info that zap2xml used to pull from gracenote. The info always came from gracenote, just from a different url.
