REX reordering issue

Hello. I wonder if anyone can see the error here?

REX config...

<title lang="en"></title>
<title lang="xx"></title>
<title lang="de"></title>
<sub-title lang="en"></sub-title>
<sub-title lang="xx"></sub-title>
<sub-title lang="de"></sub-title>

Initial grab...

<programme start="20210301081500 +0000" stop="20210301100000 +0000" channel="Sky Sport 1 HD (DE)">
<title lang="en">LIQUI MOLY HBL: THW Kiel - Füchse Berlin, Topspiel am Sonntag, Nachholspiel vom 7. Spieltag</title>
<desc lang="en">Harte Aufgabe: Kiel will punkten, damit sie den Rivalen aus Flensburg unter Druck setzen können. Berlin hat andere Pläne. Kommentar: Karsten Petrzika, Moderation: Jens Westen, Experte: Pascal Hens.(n)</desc>
<category lang="en">Handball</category>
<icon src="https://www.sky.de/static/img/program_guide/11721896_s.jpg" />
</programme>

After REX...

<programme start="20210301081500 +0000" stop="20210301100000 +0000" channel="Sky Sport 1 HD (DE)">
<desc lang="en">Harte Aufgabe: Kiel will punkten, damit sie den Rivalen aus Flensburg unter Druck setzen können. Berlin hat andere Pläne. Kommentar: Karsten Petrzika, Moderation: Jens Westen, Experte: Pascal Hens.(n)</desc>
<category lang="en">Handball</category>
<icon src="https://www.sky.de/static/img/program_guide/11721896_s.jpg" />
</programme>

Why is the title being removed?
Its only some of the channels that behave this way.

What I am trying to do is reorder the languages in my preference since my frontend takes the first one listed.

I'm confused. I thought it was impossible to delete titles?

What I would like is a config to sort titles in this order...

original title (xx?)
english title (en?)
whatever-is-left title (?)

Remember is a post-process, so it does what you tell you to.
In the first post you are removing titles, with nothing in between tags you remove. I will see with Jan how you can handle "language preference".

Ok well I really don't know what is happening then. I posted examples where it doesn't do what I want, but in most cases it does... Even if by accident.

A lang order would be sweet. In the meantime I have discovered that my frontend can actually handle "xx" as "undetermined", so as long as everything is tagged correctly, I can treat undetermined as original.

Off topic: I just asked a question on the git hub. Is it possible to modify a siteini so that original title is coded xx and not the same as the site culture? https://github.com/SilentButeo2/webgrabplus-siteinipack/issues/500

yes, usually should be set to "en", because the majority of the movies/series is with english language. In some siteini we avoid that if the titleoriginal is referenced in same language, basically not xx but either en or the siteini language , very difficult to determine though.

OK.

tv.sms.cz.m is incorrect.

When a title is in "en" it labels it as "cs"

example...

title lang="cs" Pobřeží Afriky
title lang="cs" Coastal Africa

Is there anything I can do in the ini to correct this?

Yes you can add after the last titleoriginal line:
titleoriginal.modify {addend(notnull)|(lang=en)}
This will always add to titleoriginal the "en" language

Thanks that worked.

I question why we should assume the original language should be either the sites language or English though. More often than not it will be English, but do you not think marking it as undetermined is a better option for people who want to use the original, regardless of language?

Even more off-topic: Could we add a column to the ini lists (http://webgrabplus.com/epg-channels) that tells us which sites provide original titles? Perhaps one for each other type of data too, like episode numbers, description etc.

As you may understand is a reference. It's like i get a movie title from czech site but is in english.....Since it is all random we have to leave with that. For the second question titleoriginal is a variable, so it would not be correct to state a site ini has episode numbers, description, etc etc.
We always try to get most complete info if available, if not mdb can be of support.

That is my point though. Because we do not know what the original language is (unless the site has that info and it can be scraped) we should say that its undetermined instead of just guessing.

The problem is a lot of ini are being encrypted, so checking the ini to see if it even attempts to get titleoriginal is not possible. So we have to try each ini and see what they give. It was just an idea... more for new users since I have done most of the testing now.

As i said it's a variable, so it's kind of useless unless you know for sure what the show language is or it will be.
Again you can have a russian site, with title (ru)and titleoriginal in english, next show is all title (ru)and titleoriginal(ru).
Very difficult to determine, that's why they all set for the most common way, site language for title and english for titleoriginal. Even if we ask authors to allow the change you will never get a good percentage of matches, so consider it as a reference only.
Tell you the truth i guess was something started with a purpose in xmltv, but not really needed nowdays. I would completly remove it, but authors always told me webgrabplus observe the xmltv standards. You can post your idea (remove ?) in the dedicated forum area here http://webgrabplus.com/forums/idea-box
